John was in love with Mary, an unscrupulous girl from his school. When he finally gathered the courage to ask her on a date she refused point blank because John was extremely ugly.
Out of despair, he decided to have plastic surgery. However, because of his ill health, his operation was categorically denied. Seeing the only option to get the girl of his dreams thrown out the window, John started to demonstrate an erratic behavior and was on the verge of committing suicide. Mary, seeing the lengths that John was willing to go just to be with her, realized how much he really loved her and she started to fall for him.
Having the love of his life by his side, John decided that the new-found couple should celebrate. He bought train tickets for the both of them to go on a trip around the country. However, fate was not on their side. When they were at the train station, just as the train was about to come, John tripped over and fell onto the tracks. Mary, who had already seen the train approaching the station when John fell, was unable to save his life in time.
