It was a cool August evening and everything was quiet and peaceful. I was sitting on a swing talking with my friends when, out of some random conversation which I cannot remember at the moment, a friend of mine whose name is João talked about how nice are Mini-milks. We all stopped talking for a minute or two to think about it.
I remember that when I was young my grandmother would give me some money to buy candy at a little shop near the house, and my candy of choice was always a Mini-milk. I still remember it's flavour despite devouring it in two seconds at the time.
Back to that fine August evening, after those precious minutes that were used to think about how each one of us loved the ice cream, I said "Hey... Why are we getting all nostalgic about it when we can just walk for a few minutes and get some for ourselves?". Smiles started to be expressed and I swear I even saw João shedding a happy tear.
So we left the camping site and walked to the nearest shop that sold ice cream. We got inside the store and asked the old lady (who was running the shop at the time) for Mini-milks. She walked to the freezer with a Maria magazine in her left hand, opened the freezer, looked through the boxes for a few moments and said "I am sorry, I only have 2 left...". Five seconds afterwards this statement we were already on round two of Rock Paper Scissors.
Suddenly I felt someone touching my shoulder, looked back and the old lady said "I was just kidding, here are the other 2.".
We laughed for a little while to hide the fact that we almost made half of us to watch desperately at the other half while they were eating the most desirable ice creams ever - what a terrible situation that would be.
When we left the store with what we were looking for, we all talked about our childhood while walking back to the camping site. When we got there, we started unwrapping the ice creams but we did not eat them that quickly this time.
And so my story comes full circle, sitting on the swings with my friends remembering how our childhood was nice and peaceful. On top of everything we talked about how it is rewarding to keep those old friends that ran with you to those candy shops when you were young.
It was indeed a peaceful August evening...

Loved it, because I also have one story like that. But instead of Mini-milk, we were EPÁ!
