A message from Mariana

Hello everyone! I'm Mariana. Well, a lot of you have been talking about personal experiences and insterests. And all I can say is that I've read pretty amazing things about you. My life has had, as a lot of you I guess, a few ups and downs and, of course, the most part of it was good things. I'm currently 19 and I live in the suburbs of Lisbon in a village called Carcavelos. It's a nice place near the beach, although I don't really fancy hot places. But I like to take a walk on the beach during winter. I find it so beautiful. Unfortunately we don't have snow, that's a shame! I have a twin sister, an older brother and an older sister also. We are a pretty big family and I'm already an aunt! It has been a really good experience till now. Children make us more patient and tolerant about other people. I'm also talking about having fun. Isn't it fun to take care of a boy or a girl during the weekends? I think it is (sometimes xD). Since ever that I wanted to write a book. I've been investing a lot of time in it, and a few months ago I finished it. It is obvious the reason I've chosen this course. I've been in love with literatures and languages since I was born. I love accents, I find them so incredible and misterious. There is something about a french or a british accent that I can't explain. When I was little I used to be occupied the most part of the time. My activities included ballet, singing and acting. All of that made me a better person. I still sing but not as much as I did when I was younger. I've been taking a lot of time to write and read now. If someone asked me my favourite song, or music or movie, I wouldn't be able to answer. It's very hard to pick one. I can tell you that I'm a fan of Jazz and alternative music. I hear a lot of Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Mumford and the sons, etc My heart is filled with words of Hemingway, Joanne Harris and Tatiana de Rosnay. Those are a few of my favourite authors. Right now I've been listening a bit of Carla Bruni and watching foreign movies, speacially french and american ones. Well I guess that's a lot of me. I hope I can cope with you and work among you through all of these 3 years! See you next class :) Mariana
